Consider The School When Choosing Your Fort Lauderdale Real Estate Home Or Condo Purchase

When choosing where to live in the Fort Lauderdale real estate market, one thing to consider is the reputation and grade of the local schools. Whether you have children yet to start school or getting ready to finish high school, one of the most important considerations for parents is the education of their children.
Florida grades schools based on Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test scores. The high-stakes test is given to third through 11th-graders and measures student achievement in reading, math, writing and science.
District and school grades represent progress. The state looks at how well students do from one year to the next and rates the improvement. About half the points a school earns are based solely on student learning gains.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, this year’s grades from the 283 public schools in Broward County increased to an overall grade of A after last year’s grade slipped slightly to a B average. Nearly 75 percent of Florida’s 2,889 public schools received As or Bs this year. Only 45 schools statewide earned an F this year, a drop of about 54 percentage points.

1. Great Schools - This website contains a strict grading system for each school in the county and is unique in the fact that it contains reviews by parents in the area and their experiences with the particular school.
2. Broward County School System Website - This is the official website for the Broward County School Board. It contains up to date information and news concerning the public schools countywide.
3. School Boundary Locator - Find out by searching any address in Broward County what schools service that particular address.
