One of the easier and quickest ways to save yourself money is by making a simple change to your heating and air conditioning system. By changing your thermostat to digital, your could potential save yourself hundred of dollars a year and be more ecologically friendly.
The main reason to switch to a digital thermostat in your Fort Lauderdale real estate home or condo is because these products are programmable. By programming the thermostat to adjust temperatures when the family is not home, you can save around 10% of your yearly heating and air conditioning expenses according to Energy Star.
To change your current thermostat to a new digital product…
WARNING: Even though the wires inside of a thermostat are low voltage, any time you work with electricity it is imperative that you be SURE you turn of the power to the device you will working on. If you are not sure that you have disconnected the right circuit, you can go to the main panel in the home and switch the main breaker to the OFF position to be sure. Do this EVERY time you are working with electricity around your home.
1. Remove the cover from the existing thermostat.
2. Remove the wires from the screw terminals while noting their locations
3. Remove the screws that are mounting the current thermostat to the wall
4. Mount the new thermostat using the instructions supplied by the manufacturer
5. Reattach the wires to the new digital thermostat following the manufacturer guidelines
6. Replace the cover of your new digital thermometer
7. Program the device according to your personal preferences
