I recently read a Digg wherein a couple of guys had declared themselves as the best realtor in east Fort Lauderdale. In addition to sounding cocky, and blatantly full of themselves, I was wondering how this award was self-conferred. Was there some awards ceremony that yours truly was not invited to? Was there some contest that I missed? Was there some reality show that I didn’t see? No…just a couple of shameless agents trying to drum up some business…how sad.
I know that the real estate market has been really tough for some agents but to actually call yourself the “best”…c’mon, thinking a bit high of oneself aren’t we guys? When you make a statement that you are the best, what exactly are you the best in? For instance…
- Do you provide the best customer service?
- Have you had the best sales volume?
- Do you have the best website?
- Do you have the best reputation?
- Do you have the best traffic to your website?
- Do you have the best looking staff?
This is a ridiculous claim and if someone is promoting themselves as the best then that probably only means they were competing with themselves.
I don’t and would never claim to be the best in anything. That would mean that I have nothing left to attain. I have many more goals that I want to achieve. i never want to stop improving.
Hey if the award for the Best Realtor in Fort Lauderdale is ever handed out, I am not going to hand it to myself, nor would I want any other agents bestowing such a title upon me. No, if I were to win such an award I would want my clients to vote. I would want the people who I do business with to vote me as the best. Now that would be an award worth having.
