Best Places To Live In Fort Lauderdale

The Best Places To Live In Fort Lauderdale | Fort Lauderdale Neighborhoods … I bet you thought I was really going to tell you where the best neighborhoods in the Fort Lauderdale real estate market are.

I also bet a lot of my competitors, who can’t keep pace with the Fort Lauderdale Real Estate Blog, thought they had me and were all set to file a complaint against me for “steering”.

You see “steering” is a violation of the fair housing laws and it occurs when a real estate agent, encourages or directs clients toward particular neighborhoods and/or away from others based upon the client’s race, color, ethnicity, sex, familial status, handicap, or religion.

The Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, covers housing discrimination. This law prohibits housing discrimination by real estate firms and homeowners. This means that homeowners may not refuse to lease or sell property based on race, religion, gender, color, or national origin. In some localities, special housing discrimination ordinances or laws also cover sexual orientation

Now that we have that “legalese” out of the way, let’s talk about what what kind of information we can provide. You see we will show any property to any prospective Buyer. If the Buyer wants to see a particular house, even if we know that the Buyer more than likely won’t like the area for one reason or another, we still show the house. After all…we definitely don’t want to be like these guys.

Now here comes the rub. We inevitably get the question, why didn’t we tell the Buyer what kind of neighborhood the house was in. If we had told them we could have avoided the huge waste of the Buyer’s time and the waste of our time as well. After all, the Buyer expects us to be the expert in the market. Why would we bother to show them some piece of crap home in a piece of crap neighborhood? After all it makes us look bad to our client.

As a homeowner myself, I wanted to know what the neighborhood was like BEFORE I decided to buy. I wanted to know if it was comprised of a lot of renters or if it was a lower income neighborhood. When I bought my own home, this kind of data was important as I did not want to live in that kind of neighborhood.

However when I began investing, I did want rental property in that kind of neighborhood. I was making an informed business decision. I assume that you as a prospective Buyer yourself would appreciate knowing what kind of neighborhood YOU are contemplating buying in.

So in response to the questions we receive from prospective Buyers, I’m writing this post that will allow our Buyers the ability to research Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods on their own.

We have talked to the suits and now we have gotten approval from the attorneys to provide our readers the information to research Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods and their relative demographic make-up to determine on their own if they would like to see a home located in a particular area.

I was told that the key to avoiding any problems with the Fair Housing Act and any frivolous complaints of steering from our competitors is to let out Buyers eliminate those neighborhoods that they don’t want to be in on their own.

In addition to answering as many qualified questions that we can about their homebuying process, we are providing the Fort Lauderdale neighborhood demographics found below as an informational resource that will allow Buyers to narrow their search criteria based upon their own terms.

Listen, we’ll show any Buyer, any home. But if YOU have any questions relative to Fort Lauderdale neighborhood demographics, at least you’ll be able to see some information to aid you in narrowing the field.
