The Deflationary Crisis And Its Affect On The Housing Market
“If the government used home prices in the CPI reading, you’d see the biggest deflation since the ’30s”
Cramer predicts another 10% to 15% decline nationwide, and 40% to 50% peak to trough declines in bubble markets. He calls the Fed “reckless” and actually goes further and says that the Fed is a “radical right wing” organization.
What does this mean for those in the real estate business and for those in the market for a new home.
Well, that depends upon who you talk to. Real estate agents who primarily “list” homes and do little else are in for a tough time in the near future if Cramer’s predictions hold true. Accordingly so will the seller clientele of these so called “listing agents”.
If prices continue to trend downward as Cramer and other economists feel is likely, it will become increasing hard for listers to actually sell homes. If the market continues to decline as Cramer says and it drops an additional 20% or more, you are going to find sellers wiped out and in order for them to sell they may have to bring large sums of cash to the closing table. “Miami Is America’s Worst City To Be A Sports Fan”

Wait A Minute…You Can’t Insult Our Sports Teams That Way, Or Can You?
Recently Forbes Magazine has dubbed Miami the “Worst City In America For Sports Fans”. Now just hold on there. We may cry and moan about a lot of things about our local sports teams. We may dream of the next Dan Marino, we may long for Shaq to be rumbling up and down the hardwood and we may lament that the dismantling of the World Champion Marlins was a slap in the face, and we may wonder if “The U” is ever going to regain national prominence and we may even complain about the super high ticket prices, but does that mean we live in the worst place to be a sports fan?
Listen, when you guys are shoveling snow in Lambeau Field in December to watch the Packers, we’re sipping Mojitos in flip flops! You can’t beat that! And if we want to watch a baseball game in the heat of a pennant race, we can sit anywhere we want in the stadium.
Forbes says that with a $38,632 median household income for the greater Miami area, which is woefully the fifth-lowest of the 29 markets, coupled with a $292.50 price tag for a family of four to see a game, Miami is the worst economic deal for sports fans anywhere. Read more
40% Or More Of Homes Sold Are Foreclosures Or Distressed Properties!
These so-called distressed sales helped depress home values across the country, feeding into a downdraft that is making it increasingly difficult for many Americans to sell their homes for more than they paid. This “upside-down” phenomenon is being felt by many homeowners who now find that because of declining values their homes are now worth a lot less than they owe on them.
Nationally, prices of previously owned homes were 7.1 percent lower in July than a year earlier, the NAR reported on Monday, with the median value falling to $212,400, from $215,100 in June.
And there were signs that prices would continue to spiral downward for months to come. The number of homes and apartments for sale jumped 3.9 percent in July, adding to the supply glut that has bedeviled the housing market for months.
“It’s cold comfort to know that the banks are succeeding on selling their houses at prices that are pretty breathtaking,†Read more
Boston Live In Concert!

In 1976, I was a high school sophomore who was allowed to attend my first concert. What a concert it was. 30+ years later I remember that night as if it was last night.
I remember the drive to the arena. I remember walking into the huge abyss of the halll and looking down from the top of the concourse into the dark pavilion that on the previous night I had watched a hockey game. This surely could not be the same place. It even smelled much different. It wasn’t until years later in college that I realized just what that smell was!
Anyway…the lineup that night was amazing. A new up and coming band called 38 Special opened the show and blew us northerners away with a heaping helping of deep fried southern rock. I was hooked forever. Following that night Marshall Tucker, the Outlaws, and of course the Charlie Daniels Band became my heroes. Lest I not forget, Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Next up was a band trying to make it in America with the release of their first album. I had not heard of this band before and most of my friends waiting for the headliner to appear made their way up the long flight of stairs to score us some “refreshments”…that’s greek for BEER! I know I said I was a sophomore but the drinking age was 18 back then and we had a buddy with us who had a fake ID. Read more
How To Have A Serious Hurricane Party!
Hurricane Party? Hurricane Party? Yes, here in Fort Lauderdale we actually have parties when there are hurricanes. Whatever you do before the party begins, please make sure you are safe and that your guests are safe. That being said, let’s get to it!
Ok, some of you are reading this and thinking to yourselves, these people are absolutely nuts! Well, only partly. We all know that hurricanes are a serious matter but many here in the Fort Lauderdale real estate area consider hurricane season a cost of living in paradise.
A storm here or there for not having to go through months of cold, snow, and dreary weather like many have in most parts of the country is a small price to pay. After all, isn’t that why we pay exorbitant insurance rates anyway?
Evacuate? That’s for amateurs and Category 3 storms and above only..maybe. We mostly stay and ride it out. So after we have battened down the hatches, it’s time to get together with a few friends, hunker down and relieve the stress with a few libations. For those here in South Florida hosting or attending hurricane parties has indeed become a part of the tropical lifestyle that brought us here in the first place.
So what makes for a good hurricane party? First of all, don’t invite these guys:
“Nothings harder than a New England gangsta”? Puhleassse!
So how do we kick it in the

Gloria Estefan Live In Concert!
One of South Florida’s biggest musical stars, Gloria Estefan, will perform a charity concert at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Oct. 24.
Gloria Estefan’s family fled Cuba for Miami in 1959. She began her singing career in 1975 with the group Miami Sound Machine, and four years later married the group’s keyboardist, Emilio Estefan. After several Spanish-language albums the group began releasing material in English, their breakthrough album coming in 1985 with Primitive Love.
Estefan went solo with even greater success; with Emilio Estefan as her producer and promoter, she became for a time America’s leading Latin recording artist. A true entrepreneur, with the Bongos, the 7 restaurant chain and a few hotels, Estefan has amassed a net worth fortune estimated at over $500 Million dollars.
In a rare appearance, the five time Grammy award winner will hold the concert to benefit school systems in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
