Winterfest Boat Parade – December 10, 2011

Winterfest Boat Parade – December 10, 2011

UPDATE: The festivities and excitement begins at 3:30 pm when the gates open to the Grandstand Viewing Area. Come early and bring the family (No pets please) to enjoy all of the amenities associated with your reserved and assigned seats. The Boat Parade gets underway at 6:00 pm along Downtown Fort Lauderdale and should arrive at the grandstand area at approximately 7:30 pm.

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Winterfest Boat Parade. This year’s theme is “Rockin’ Boats and Holiday Floats”. Kind of a corny sounding name but aren’t all parades a bit corny anyway? They’re meant to be silly and tons of fun! Other than rain, there’s not much which diminishes the fun of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.

[ad#postad]

Starting on the New River in Fort Lauderdale and traveling to the Intracoastal North to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach The 39th Annual Boat Parade will start on the New River as it travels East to the Intracoastal Waterway as it continues North to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. The parade shows off the beauty of our waterways with the music and excitement of every era.

From the vast numbers of private boats to the giant showboats and corporate megayachts, the 100 parade entrants, will be adorned with hundreds of thousands of lights, music, entertainment, decorations, celebrities, musical groups, beauty queens and many other exciting entries expected to be viewed by over one million spectators.

Even though we live here, we never tire of the boat parade. It’s a lot of fun for everyone and visiting relatives and friends absolutely love it. Since we live near the intracoastal we get a great view but if you don’t it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get a great spot to see the Winterfest Boat Parade.

In honor of a new category, to commemorate the city’s 100 th birthday, Winterfest is calling all vintage boats to enter the parade, in a new category. Last year, parade viewers were given a taste ofhistory with America, a 1965 Trumpy Motoryacht and Charm, a 1983 Pilgrim Trawler. This nighttime flotilla gained strength in 1971because of the vision of about 20 enthusiastic boaters.

Another highlight for 2011 will be the extraordinary poster artwork created by marinelife artist Guy Harvey. This is the second Winterfest commissioning for the artist.

For the best seats on land to view the entire Parade, head over to the Winterfest Grandstands located in Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Reserve your tickets today! Stop by the Culinary Courtyard for some great food and get a frost, cold beverage as well. There will be music at the Mobile Mike Stage and Big105.9 FM Morning Show Personalities will be on hand with live parade commentary.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida will host an area with Indian arts, crafts, birds of prey and authentic Indian dancing. Experience the Florida Panthers’ Slap Shot Game, Florida Marlins Prize Wheel, Mermaids, Baseball Throw, climb the Rock Wall, Bounce House, Sun-Sentinel’s Kids’ Town and much more!

You may walk in to Birch State Park for a general admission fee of just $3 are invited to experience all the pre-parade activities but the Grandstands are gated so you will not be permitted inside without a ticket. Walk-ins will need to bring a chair or blanket and save your spot on the southern end of the park near the seawall for optimum viewing. There will be no unauthorized vehicles permitted inside the park the day of the parade.

Park and Ride service  and convenient parking at Memorial Park (Sunrise Boulevard – Holiday Park). For each grandstand Ticket purchased, you will also receive a voucher for a Florida Panther’s and Marlins Games game in January. Special appearances by Stanley C. Panther, Billy the Marlin and Santa!

Don’t miss the Winterfest Boat Parade!

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2011

Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

Living in Fort Lauderdale certainly has its perks and one of those perks is the great events that are held locally. One of my favorite local events is the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. They shouldn’t call it a “boat show” but rather a mega yacht show.

Sure they have much smaller boats, but the eye-catchers are certainly the big boats. The ones you can only dream about owning. They are massive and extremely impressive.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the “Yachting Capital of the World” will host the 52nd Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on October 27-31, 2011. Show exhibits range from yacht builders and designers to exotic cars and brokerage yachts.

Covering six locations and over 3 million square feet of space, the show’s transportation network of bus shuttles, water taxis, and riverboats ensures attendees can easily navigate the boat show and its expansive waterways system.Added attractions include The Blue Wild Dive Show, IGFA’s School of Sportfishing and Hook the Future’s Kids Fishing Clinics.

Summer officially starts at the largest music and art festival in Florida, spotlighting just about every musical genre. Listen to tunes, sip cold drinks, and scope out the vistas around downtown West Palm Beach’s new waterfront.

SunFest is the big time. There is no doubt summer kicks off right here. It may be hot outside, but inside the festival gates, the over the top musical lineup makes every one of the festival’s five days hotter. Last year, ZZ Top, REO Speedwagon, The B-52s, The Charlie Daniels Band, Five For Fighting, Ben Harper and Relentless 7, Johnny Cakes and Four Horseman of the Apocalypso, and Shinedown rocked on three stages of live music.

SunFest is about kicking back on one of the floating barges, surrounded by partygoers, DJs, and unique cocktail mixes that will give you a wide smile and a refreshing feeling. The barges are set up on open air in Lake Worth Lagoon.

Art is also major part of SunFest. Find and buy something you like, or discover an artist whose work stands out from the rest, from the more than 75 art vendors to make up the juried show. On the way to the art, stop by the kid’s area, try some great food, have a cold drink, go for a wine tasting, and visit a vendor booth. The last night of SunFest features a spectacular fireworks show – a fantastic finale to a fabulous fest.

Great SunFest ticket packages are available. Feel like a VIP with a backstage pass or reserve your seat near the stage. Five-day festival tickets and individual day passes are all available.

For a different experience all together, try Club SunFest – A members only section with reduced prices for drink and complimentary meals.

Full lineup of top musical acts, as well as wine tasting, juried fine arts and crafts, TGI5K, Rock n Roll Shootout, family activities, and Fireworks show on Sunday at 9pm.

Tickets are still available at sunfest.com, and at the on-site ticket booths. Prices are $34 for one day, $51 for a two-day pass, $66 for a five-day pass. Youth tickets (Ages 6-12) are $10 for one day, $17 for two days or $22 for five days. Senior tickets are $20, at the gate only. Children under 5 get in free.

Many of downtown West Palm Beach restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, are open early and late during SunFest. They also offer exclusive specials found only festival time.

There are VIP tickets, as well for the event, you can call SunFest. The event will be on Wednesday, April 27, to Sunday, May 1, at West Palm Beach Waterfront.

So come on out and listen to some incredible bands, grab your favorite beverage, have a bite, and rock on into the night.

SunFest itinerary: Saturday a great day to catch local acts From The Gallery’s set right after the gates open at 12:15 pm to Jeff Harding’s show at 7 pm, Saturday will be full of local music at SunFest. Captain Tom Zsak On The Happy Day Today Sport Fishing Boat Says The Sailfish Are Biting!!

By Sport FishingNo Comments

Captain Tom Zsak On The robin fishingHappy Day Today Sport Fishing Boat Says The Sailfish Are Biting!!

If you love sport fishing, it doesn’t get any better than it is here in the Fort Lauderdale area. My wife is an avid fisherwoman…actually that’s not a strong enough description. I think she actually has gills. She grew up the daughter of a fishing boat captain and cut her teeth on the sport.

Now, every chance she gets, she’s either on a boat or on a pier with a line in the water. She’s fished in the Caribbean off of the shores of Jamaica and St. Lucia and has done some diving in those areas as well. So I take her word for it when she tells me how much fun sport fishing is right here in our own backyard.

She actually landed a big one a few years ago. She caught an 80 pound Sailfish that now hangs on our wall. She’s also caught a bunch of other fish including some pretty good size Mahi Mahi in her time. So I think she knows what she’s talking about.

[ad#postad]

So today she read a log by a local captain. Captain Tom Zsask regarding a Fort Lauderdale fishing charter he had today:

This morning in South Florida Ft. Lauderdale winds were out of the east at 12 mph – seas were running 3-4 ft., blue indigo waters pushed into the Ft. Lauderdale Beach. The Happy Day Today was chartered by Mr. Winger, a customer of mine who has been doing salt water fishing with me for the past 15 years. I have watched his family grow, from sons to grandsons.

Mr, Winger remembered his son going out Sword fishing one day with the Happy Day Today and coming home with a 350 lb.Sword fish. It was now time to take his grandson, Nick, who is ten years old, out fishing. We started out live baiting with two kites out with four live baits, two on each kite. The first bite was a 20 lb. Mahi Mahi, the second bite was a King fish, then a Barracuda and one more King.

I positioned the boat over a wreck north of the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale in South Florida. Mitch, the mate, set up the kites again and in a few mintues a Sailfish came up on the left long kite. Soon, the Sailfish’s bill was out of the water taking swings at the bait. The line smoked off the reel of the rod that Nick was holding, as the Sailfish came out of the water, jumping from north to south, putting on a great show.

Nick must have it in his blood because he looked like a true angler; he brought the Sailfish to the side of the boat, allowing us to take pictures. Afterwards, we released the Sailfish and he swam away. The smile on that boy’s face made my day. Mr.Winger was very proud, exclaiming what a great job his grandson did with his first Sailfish!

It was time to start heading back to the dock at Bahia Mar, Fort Lauderdale South Florida. This ends another successful and adventurous fishing excursion on the Happy Day Today with Captain Zsak.

The Happy Day Today charter boat is the ULTIMATE sport fishing adventure! With 30 years of Ft Lauderdale fishing experience and 34 local records in South Florida, Captains Rick Brady and Tom Zsak have the skilled expertise to decide how, what, and where to catch fish on any given day on a Ft Lauderdale fishing charter.

Anybody want to go fishing?

Spring Break Fort Lauderdale Style | The Party Is Back!

By AttractionsNo Comments

Spring Break Fort Lauderdale Style | The Party Is Back!

Do you remember being in college? Aaah…what a great time we had on Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale. 10 of us crammed into a room at the old Jolly Roger hotel. Having  our meals at the Candy Store buffet and washing it down with warm beer. The now infamous Wet-T contests with the “local” ringers. Bailing my roommate out of jail for being a complete moron. Peeing in the ocean while chasing a Frisbee…good times…good times.

[ad#postad]

Well the good times are back. The kids are swarming upon Fort Lauderdale again after a long hiatus. No, you don’t have to worry about it taking hours to drive down A1A, but it’s still nice to see the strip bustling with business and activity.

What I used to look at as a good time I now look at as potential income and right now, Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale is giving some area businesses a big boost. Even if the police have to occasionally look the other way.

Spring Break Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale once again appears to be an increasingly popular destination for Spring Breakers. With all of the violence in Mexico, the Fort Lauderdale area offers some distinct advantages and it’s a safe destination.

“I think the city has really tried to get them back here, not so much like the ridiculousness that it used to be, but something that is comfortable for both the college kids, the regular tourists and the families,” said Michele Penrod, owner of the Elbo Room. (Anyone remember Penrod’s and the Button?…OMG!!)

Four Florida cities made the Top 10 list of Spring Break destinations booked on Orbitz.com, including Orlando at No. 1, Fort Lauderdale at No. 5, Fort Myers at No. 6 and Tampa at No. 7.

In affordability, Fort Lauderdale moved up two notches from No. 7 last year, as its average rate for hotels fell to $125 a night from $138 last year.

It’s estimated that as many as 300,000 spring breakers will hit Fort Lauderdale this year. I know the business owners we’ve spoken to along the beach couldn’t be happier with the return of Spring Break to Fort Lauderdale.

Thanks For Deciding To Work With Me!

Thanks for allowing me the chance to work with you. We all know how skeptical Realtors can be. What you will find in working with me is that you can count on me being very direct and giving you the straight scoop on things.

We operate a lot differently than a lot of agents are used to working and our somewhat aggressive style can sometimes take people aback if they are not used to it. When reviewing deals that we want to get involved in we have a number of variables that we feel comfortable with.

My Buyers have been doing this quite a long time and for them it’s all about the numbers. There is zero emotional attachment. For any deal to work that they get into it MUST be profitable.

As we review your listing, we will let you know very quickly if it is one we want to pull the trigger on. When they make a decision, which will be within 24 hours, they will tell you why they want the deal and if they don’t, they will tell you why not. So let’s keep our fingers crossed and see if the listing you submitted works for them.

In the interim, feel free to check out my site. You can click here to get to the front page. I have a ton of information on here and some videos that you may like to watch as well.

Again, thanks for giving me this opportunity to work with you and we’ll be in touch in 24 hours or so.

Best Regards,
Robin
